Homes of Hope 2019
Volunteer with Habitat for Humanity Australia and make a difference in the lives of women.
In recognition of International Women’s Day, Habitat for Humanity Australia is mobilizing teams of corporate volunteers across New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria and South Australia to assist women and children who are experiencing homelessness often due to domestic and family violence, as well as women headed households. Volunteers will be helping to renovate and make improvements to housing and shelter for these families.
Join us for a full day of team building and get your staff motivated and inspired while making a difference to the lives of women in Australia from 4th – 15th March 2019.
Violence against women and homelessness is a serious and widespread problem in Australia. One in four women in Australia has experienced physical and/or emotional abuse at the hands of their partner. Having a clean, safe and well maintained place to go is an important component for women leaving an abusive relationship. However, at a time of reduced Government spending, existing services cannot meet the demand for crisis accommodation and the available accommodation is often run down and in need of refurbishment.
In addition, women headed households are increasing. With the stress of raising a family and earning an income falling on the shoulders of single mothers, providing a hand up this International Women’s Day can make a world of difference.
