Volunteering is an act of selflessness, a testament to the power of community, and a celebration of individuals who make a significant impact on the lives of others.  Today, we are thrilled to spotlight Lavinia Song, a remarkable young individual who has been awarded with Habitat Australia’s Young Volunteer of the Year Award in recognition of her substantial contributions to our programs. At just 23 years old, Lavinia’s generosity as a volunteer exemplifies the spirit of giving back and the potential for transformative change.

Lavinia’s support of Habitat for Humanity began full of compassion but little to no experience with the tools or tasks involved in our programs. She dove headfirst into volunteering, immersing herself in two vital initiatives: Bushfire Resilience and Brush with Kindness. Her commitment and dedication shone through from day one.

Fast forward to today, Lavinia has become an adept painter, confidently handling the tools, and working independently and reliably each volunteer day. Her growth in skills and capabilities is a testament to her relentless commitment to Habitat’s work.

Lavinia’s contributions go far beyond mastering the technical aspects of her work. Her main strength lies in the incredible atmosphere she creates within the volunteer team. Lavinia brings a kindness and calmness that not only grounds the team but also infuses the days with joy and positivity. Her ability to uplift and motivate others is a defining feature of her volunteer work, making the toughest days feel more manageable and fun!

Lavinia has made a significant impact on the community and the beneficiaries of Habitat for Humanity’s programs. Through her dedication, she has completed a staggering 30 volunteer days whilst also acting as a big catalyst for change. Lavinia has not only been a dedicated volunteer but also an inspiring leader, introducing four new volunteers to Habitat Australia’s work

Lavinia’s journey with Habitat for Humanity serves as an inspiration to us all, reminding us that it is never too early to start making a difference in the lives of others.

In celebrating Lavinia’s well-deserved recognition as the recipient of the Young Volunteer of the Year Award, we extend our gratitude and admiration for her incredible contributions to our programs.

Congratulations, Lavinia, and may your generosity continue to inspire and uplift those around you.
