Meet John and Johanna – the 58th family to receive a Habitat for Humanity home in Victoria.
On Friday 19 May Habitat for Humanity Victoria handed over their most recent new home to Chris and Jacqui and their two boys Mason, 5 and Saxon, 2.
The bank manager laughed when Christopher Curry and his partner Jacqui Kirby applied for a home loan. Based on what Christopher earned they had no hope, he said.
Tanya never thought that she would own a home of her own. A mother of two, she had moved from Sydney to the Illawarra region, following the death of her partner. Tanya had also lost her home during the Christmas Day bushfires in 2001.

Habitat Victoria has started to build another house at Prospect Rise, Yea using an innovative “core construction method”. In this unique method, the homes wet areas (bathroom, toilet, laundry and kitchen) are built offsite in a factory and then transported to the construction site.
