This year, we’re delighted to honour Jan and Greg, our Volunteers of the Year at Habitat for Humanity Australia. Their commitment to our Brush with Kindness (BWK) program in Queensland has been truly exceptional.Â
Together, they volunteered for a combined 80 days, totalling 560 hours, in the last year alone. Jan and Greg’s work ethic, kind-heartedness, and dedication are nothing short of inspiring. Their enthusiasm and positivity have not only been a great asset but also made working with them a lot of fun.Â
Both recently retired schoolteachers, they have seamlessly transitioned into the world of volunteering and have made a positive impact on the lives of so many, including women and children escaping domestic violence. Jan and Greg’s generosity reminds us that anyone can make a profound impact through volunteering.
We felt this lovely message from Helena, our Queensland based Volunteer Coordinator perfectly the gratitude both Helena and the Habitat team have for Jan and Greg;
My heartfelt thanks to you, Jan and Greg, you are a joy to work with AND I am happy to share that other volunteers also refer to you as their favorites and miss you if you aren’t there on the day! I truly love being able to ask “can you …?” and you leap into action and get the job done.
Your commitment and enthusiasm are inspiring and so very much appreciated, you make my work so much easier; and so many families enjoy a better place to live because of the time and talent you give through your volunteering. Thank you!
– Helena
We congratulate Jan and Greg on this well-deserved recognition and thank them for their incredible contributions, without them the Brush with Kindness program in Queensland would not exist. They embody the true spirit of giving back and inspiring positive change. Â
