In Samdach Village, Battambang province, Mr Huch Houet was supporting himself and eight family members on the meagre income gained by labouring and picking paddy in the nearby fields during the harvest season. The 30-50 USD he earned a month did not cover the food needed for the family, and certainly did not go far enough to improve living conditions. He could not travel far for work as he needed to be close by to support his daughter, born deaf with additional needs.
The family was selected for a house to be provided through the Cambodia New Start New Life (CCT) program. This has changed the lives of all members of the family, improving their dignity and resilience.
The goal of this program is to identify extremely vulnerable families and have their lives improved through the provision of adequate shelter, sustainable livelihood opportunities, and WASH facilities and training at household and school levels. This project is delivered in partnership with the Australian Government through the Australian NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP) and with the support of our corporate partner ANSA homes and implementing partner Habitat for Humanity Australia.
“My family doesn’t need to be worried anymore about shelter because now we have a safe and good house from HFHC,” said Mr. HOEUT. Mr.Hoeut and his family now live in a safe and secure which will improve his family’s health and wealth.
You can help other families feel safe in a new home. Every donation made to Habitat for Humanity Australia for this project is combined with funding from the Australian Government to reach more people. We have committed to contribute $1 for every $5 we receive under the Australian NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP). Your donation will allow us to extend our programs.
This project receives support from the Australian Government through the Australian NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP) and our corporate partner ANSA Homes to enable our implementing partner Habitat for Humanity Cambodia to be able to run the Cambodia New Start New Life project which builds homes for families in need.
