Local Village Build | QLD

- every volunteer makes a difference

Join our Local Village QLD

18th - 21st November 2021

Should for any reason the Local Village Build have to be postponed to a later date, we will transfer all costs and fundraising on to another experience of your choosing (including overseas) with Habitat for Humanity Australia

About the build

We have partnered with the YET Foundation in Tambourine, Queensland. Woodstock is a unique 300 acre property in South East Queensland dedicated to connecting communities and young people to the land and country.

On this Local Village our objective is to continue to increase the positive impact that it can have on the lives of disadvantaged and disaffected youth. According to the Australian Government in 2021, 11% of 15-24 year olds were not in educated or employment and severe psychological distress among 18-24 year olds increased from 14% in 2017 to 22% in 2020. Habitat for Humanity Australia believes in supporting Australia’s future and that lies with our youth.

Habitat for Humanity Australia has committed to providing services by assisting in renovations needed to keep the property running.

On our Local Village build you will be on the ground, providing a future for Australia’s Youth.

You will work alongside other volunteers, helping paint, including rebuilding sheds, outbuildings, fencing and even supporting the environment for the local wildlife. As a team we will achieve so much more in a few days than they would achieve in months, saving them time, money and giving children more opportunities to experience this wonderful site.

Make a difference all while making new friends, in the amazing landscape of Tambourine, QLD.

Thursday
Check into your accommodation, reinvigorating the local economy. Nestled among leafy canopies, down winding lanes and in lush, leafy towns, you’ll find a boutique hotel or one site dormitory accommodation for tucking yourself into a cosy retreat for the night, before the hard work begins. Join the team for a welcome dinner and get to know everyone.

Friday
Begin day one at Woodstock renovating the property to accommodate future school groups of disadvantaged children. Unwind in the evening at your accommodation and enjoy the tranquility of the area.

Saturday
You will spend day two at Woodstock renovating the property to accommodate future school groups of disadvantaged children. The day will finish with a team dinner where everyone can reflect on what you have achieved as a team over the past two days.

Sunday
This is a free day where you can either depart home or venture around Tambourine Mountain with some fantastic local activities.
