We partner with companies whose people don’t just embody their values, they actively seek out opportunities to bring them to life.

Grant Thornton is one of those organisations, and in May 2025, they trailblazed the biggest Global Village build yet. They didn’t just see it as a tick-box opportunity to offer a few employees the chance to volunteer; they went all in with a whole-company approach and embarked on their first-ever overseas volunteer-focused corporate conference, “Unite to Build”.

Tying in sales meetings, targets, and celebrations whilst giving back to the local community in Cambodia, where 147 employees built 13 houses, changing the trajectory of the lives of 13 families. The team didn’t just lay bricks, but the foundation for stronger, safer futures. Each of them displayed a determination and resilience that truly embodied the spirit of volunteering.

10 years prior, a handful of Grant Thornton employees embarked on a similar (albeit smaller in size) trip to this same community, building houses for locals who needed it the most. Nearly a decade later, some of them got to reunite, and it was incredible to see that reconnection – and witness the gratitude, joy, and humanity in two people who have since lived entirely different lives and yet shared an experience that has left an impact far beyond borders, language, or job title.

Now more than ever, we need courageous leadership that extends beyond the boardroom. Leaders who are willing to reimagine what organisational impact they can create. Taking your annual conference overseas in partnership with Global Village is more than just an offsite – it’s a chance to connect your people, celebrate achievements, deepen purpose for the future, and leave a legacy that lasts beyond any tenure.

Our Global Village programs run across the Asia Pacific, in Indonesia, Cambodia, Nepal, and Fiji. Grant Thornton’s team created a huge impact in just 3.5 days, freeing up the afternoons, evenings, and the weekend to plan the upcoming FY, enjoy team dinners, and explore new cultures. We’ll work together to find a win-win that meets the needs of all parties and leaves a lasting impact for all.

Whether you want a tangible way to give back, are seeking a shift in perspective, hoping to improve team connection, or just want to do something that’s never been done before, Global Village can help bring this to life.

Want to discuss how your next company gathering can go beyond building strategy and help to build a better world? We’d love to connect.
