everyone deserves a place to call home

domestic violence refuges

Our construction program partners with specialist housing providers to design and construct housing solutions that are responsive to the needs of those they support.

Current projects are focused on providing transitional accommodation for victim-survivors of domestic and family violence.

We have recently completed a refuge in partnerships with DV West in Western Sydney. The 9 bedroom, 4 unit refuge will provide shelter and wrap around services for up to 80 Indigenous women and children each year.

A further two transitional shelters in Western Sydney are in the development phase.

how to become a Habitat homeowner

Our Home Ownership Program is a limited application-based program that is only available in South Australia and Victoria. Successful partner families work within the construction of their home. Each partner family receives an interest-free loan, based on the market value of the completed home. Partner families contribute 500 hours of their own time in the planning and construction phases. This is called ‘sweat equity’.
