This project receives support from the Australian Government through the Australian NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP) and is in partnership with our implementing partner Habitat for Humanity Cambodia to provide Water, Sanitation and Hygiene kits to keep vulnerable people safe during the pandemic.
335 students from grades 1 to 6 attend to a Primary School in Battambang Province, and like many, have been affected by the COVID pandemic. Hygiene products became essential to include within the school to prevent kids to get sick, but most were not able to afford proper ones.
Thankfully, since January 2022, the project “New Start,Community for Community,” from Habitat Cambodia was able to provide help and give every student and staff member hand soap, alcohol, and masks, along with donating brooms, bins and other toiletries that are now available to all.
Furthermore, the school has since allocated 1 hour every two weeks for a hand-washing and school cleaning campaign, which engages and motivates all students to learn in a fun way. School principal Savon thanks Habitat Cambodia in behalf of the school, “Our students have improved their hygiene and sanitation. This is very important for their health, especially during the COVID-19 outbreak. We are seeking more support to improve their hygiene continuously. I appreciate and am thankful for all these supports”.
Now, kids can go to school and feel safer than before against the COVID-19 virus, and can take home the hygiene products and teachings they get at school.
