Project Summary

Adaptation for All strengthens climate resilience and adaptive capacity with households and communities at risk of climate change impacts through inclusive housing, improved water access, community empowerment, and policy advocacy.

The project prioritises marginalised ethnic minorities, women-led households, and people with disabilities, addressing the rising risk of climate-related disasters. Interventions include climate-resilient housing, expanded access to clean water, and community-led participatory planning.

The project also facilitates community dialogue with government stakeholders, creating opportunities to advocate for the inclusion of community priorities in national and local climate action policies, strategie,s and plans.

Project Need

Communities in Lao Cai and An Giang Provinces are increasingly affected by climate change and natural disasters. Many households experience unsafe housing, limited access to clean water and high levels of poverty. Ethnic minorities, women-led households and people with disabilities are disproportionately impacted due to social exclusion, poor infrastructure and limited capacity to adapt.

Project Activities

Key activities include:

  • Building and renovating climate-resilient, gender- and disability-inclusive housing
  • Installing household and community water supply facilities
  • Forming community groups with participatory trainings to lead disaster risk reduction initiatives
  • Developing policy recommendations and communications to advocate for scalable, inclusive climate adaptation models

Impact

The project will directly benefit 2,900 people, with an emphasis on support of low-income families, ethnic minorities, women-headed households and people with disabilities. Through improved housing, better access to clean water, community-led resilience planning and inclusive training programs, the project will strengthen living conditions, health and safety, enhancing the ability of these communities to withstand the effects of climate-related.
