Position Description
As the Communications and Content Manager is the engine room for content, social, and communications execution. Reporting to the Digital Marketing & Communications Lead, you will play a key role in creating and sharing the impactful work of Habitat for Humanity Australia across our digital channels. This role owns the day-to-day execution of content, social media, and communications across all digital platforms, ensuring a consistent brand voice, compelling storytelling, and strong audience engagement. It combines content writing, social media management, campaign communications, and brand governance, while working closely with the Digital Marketing & Communications Lead on priorities and strategy.

Content & Communications Execution
- Write, build, and schedule brand eDMs, blogs, and website content, with a strong focus on long-form storytelling.
- Maintain and update content across all Habitat websites (HFHA, Habitat Women, Volunteer website), ensuring accuracy and brand alignment.
- Coordinate campaign and event communications, including collateral, invitations, supporter journeys, and follow-ups.
- Source and develop stories, case studies, photography, and video assets, with a particular focus on Impact Partner needs.
- Ensure all content aligns with approved messaging frameworks and organisational priorities.
- Maintain brand consistency across all internal and external communications materials.
Social Media & Content Production
- Own and manage all organic social media channels, including planning, creation, scheduling, and publishing content (posts, stories, reels, TikToks, LinkedIn updates, etc.).
- Create engaging short-form video (using Canva), imagery, and copy aligned with brand voice and campaign objectives.
- Manage and maintain the content calendar across social media, web (blogs), and eDMs.
- Community management: monitor and respond to comments and messages, fostering positive audience engagement.
- Stay up to date with social media trends, platform updates, and best practices.
- Track, analyse, and report on content and social media performance.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
Essential Skills and Experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar communications or content role
- Proven project management skills
- Highly organised, process-driven, and detail-oriented
- Strong writing, copywriting, and storytelling capability
- Proactive, self-motivated, and accountable
- Confidence liaising with internal stakeholders at all levels
- Strong attention to detail
- Tertiary qualifications in communications, journalism, marketing, or a related discipline
- Must be based in Sydney (or nearby) to conduct interviews and manage photography and filming at program events, including volunteer days
Desirable Skills and Experience
While not essential, candidates should be willing to learn new platforms and skills:
- Basic experience using Canva (cropping, editing, trimming images/video)
- Experience using Buffer or similar social media management platforms
- Experience using Ortto or similar email marketing platforms
- Ability to translate written stories into short-form video scripts and social media video content
- Experience or interest in SEO
- Strong proofreading skills
- Interest in international development or the not-for-profit sector
