What we do in Queensland
Home building program
Habitat for Humanity Queensland builds, rehabilitates and repairs simple, decent, affordable homes in sustainable communities with support from homeowner families, volunteers, donors and partner organisations.
Habitat houses are sold to home partner families and are financed through affordable long-term loans. Habitat for Humanity Queensland provides a ‘hand up’ to home partners, not a ‘hand out’.
We select partner families based on income, need and willingness to partner. We use volunteer labour and where possible, donated materials to keep costs low.
Brush with Kindness
Brush with Kindness is a home repairs and maintenance program working in partnership with disadvantaged and socially isolated members of the community.
Brush with Kindness mobilises teams of volunteers to conduct landscaping and minor repairs to the exterior of homes of people living in poor housing.
The program helps preserve homeownership by partnering with disadvantaged homeowners struggling to restore and maintain a safe and decent place to live.
