Brush with Kindness is a ‘home beautification’ program working in partnership with disadvantaged and socially isolated members of the community.
Brush with Kindness mobilises teams of volunteers to conduct landscaping and minor repairs to the exterior of homes of people living in poor housing.
The program helps preserve homeownership by partnering with disadvantaged homeowners struggling to restore and maintain a safe and decent place to live.
When basic expenses exceed income month after month, home maintenance is often the first casualty. Years of deferred maintenance can cause a downward spiral of home deterioration and unsafe living conditions.
The program is designed to revitalise the appearance of communities and encourage connections within the community, thereby increasing social inclusion.
Without decent housing people become vulnerable to a range of issues, including increased health risks, reduced security and social isolation.
