If you haven’t traveled to Vietnam, you’re missing out on a country that is mesmerising, intoxicating, mind-expanding and super fun. Vietnam is the kind of place you’ll leave feeling relaxed, amazed, well-fed, well-dressed and with a thousand tales to tell.
The people you meet and the stories you hear will change you. In just one week you will work with 11 others to build a home for a family who are living in sub standard housing. You will laugh, cry, make amazing friends and have memories that will last a lifetime. A Global Village trip is a truly rewarding experience, join this team today!
Your team will be working to help a family in the province of Long An, just outside Ho Chi Minh City. Long An province has a poverty rate of nearly 7% of the total population of approx. 1.458 million people. Of the population identified as living in poverty, 16,735 households live in substandard or inadequate housing, with very poor or non-existent access to water and sanitation. In spite of
the province’s proximity to Ho Chi Minh City, its primary industries
remain agriculture and aquaculture.
Habitat for Humanity Australia, along with our partners in Vietnam,
is assisting low income families living in Long An to build or repair
houses. We also work to provide microfinance mechanisms to assist
families financially, allowing for the necessary improvements to their housing or water and sanitation facilities which has a direct impact on their living conditions. Providing training in financial literary, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and community-based disaster resilient management to households, community members, government partners and schools, Habitat for Humanity is helping working to help families achieve sustainable, long term housing, security and income earning potential.
