Australian companies spend millions of dollars every year on leadership development courses and retreats for their staff. But sending managers to expensive hotels or resorts often fails to challenge staff or generate lasting change in their leadership.
Habitat for Humanity Australia has worked with many leading Australian companies to deliver a unique and impactful international volunteering program that is tailored to an organisation’s strategy and leadership development needs.
Telstra, Origin, Flight Centre, Optus and Grant Thornton have sent their staff with Habitat for Humanity to build houses alongside families in developing communities in countries such as Cambodia, Vietnam, Philippines and Fiji. The five day program not only provides their staff with a unique immersion experience which forms new perspectives but it provides a challenging environment in which leadership, communications and teamwork can be tested and forged. Habitat has developed programs for groups of 24 to 150 staff.

Participation in the Global Village program also enhances the corporate social responsibility of a company. In partnering with Habitat for Humanity Australia to bring safe decent housing to communities in need, to offer access to water, sanitation and new opportunities for work and education, companies directly contribute to achieving the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s).
According to PWC some 71% of businesses are now planning how they will respond to the SDG’s and 41% of business say they will embed SDG’s into their corporate strategy and the way they do business within five years. Partnering with Habitat for Humanity Australia on a Corporate Global Village initiative provides your company with the opportunity to be at the leading edge of sustainability as well as providing very real benefits to your bottom line and staff retention.
Habitat for Humanity Australia can provide companies with a safe, tailored package that covers all travel, insurances, police checks and other logistics in a five day package that in many cases will be cheaper than company retreats at resorts in Australia or overseas.
