Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is the world’s largest not-for-profit provider of housing and improved shelter for families in need. HFHI has built over 1 million new homes in over 90 countries since 1976.
Our vision is for a world where everyone has a decent place to live.
Habitat for Humanity Australia (HFHA) reports back to HFHI. Habitat for Humanity Victoria is an Affiliate of HFHA and operates under an Affiliate Agreement with HFHA to build safe, decent and affordable housing in Victoria.
Habitat for Humanity, Victoria was established in 1988. Our first home was completed in 1995. Since then we have been helping families into home ownership with “a hand up; not a hand out”. In 2015 Habitat for Humanity Victoria will complete its 50th home and plans to build another 50 homes by 2020.
At Habitat for Humanity Victoria we are doing what we can to provide more affordable housing for Victorian families living in housing stress. A house is more than bricks and mortar. A stable, secure home creates the foundation for change. It gives families the opportunity to be healthier, happier and more secure and for children to be better nourished and better educated. It improves employment opportunities for all family members. Home ownership helps families today and future generations build a future with real hope.
