The Habitat Shed is vitally important to Habitat for Humanity, as well as the local community.
The Habitat Shed, which has been offering a helping hand to the Playford community since 2012 is located in the technical studies building at the former Para West Adult Campus, Davoren Park.
Students, unemployed youths, long-term unemployed, job-seeking refugees, return to work participants and community volunteers work in the Shed on a variety of projects. Terrific outcomes are achieved in the Shed, helping to transform people’s lives as they learn new skills, grow in confidence and form friendships while building a range of projects that assist our partner families and achieve our Mission.
Since the Habitat Shed began operation, many regular participants have achieved great outcomes. Nearly 70 ‘at risk’ students have successfully completed their Certificate 1 or 2 in Construction and more than 30 long-term unemployed job seekers have gained employment
