In October, 130 volunteers joined us to Rock the House in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Our volunteers were of all ages, backgrounds and walks of life and were united by Habitat for Humanity’s vision of a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live.
In November, the Abbotsleigh School sent a volunteer team of 16 (2 teachers and 14 students) to Fiji. The students worked side by side Vasenai and her family to help them build a safe and decent home that can also withstand disaster.
Global Village is Habitat for Humanity’s overseas volunteering program. Each year, we send roughly 300 volunteers overseas to help build a home for a family in need of safe and decent housing. In January, Global Village coordinator Sarah Garden led a team of 35 volunteers to work alongside a community in Kavre, where Habitat for Humanity is undertaking an earthquake recovery project.
