Our Impact: Carolyn, Indonesia

Carolyn was a survivor of the massacre at Manado in Indonesia 10 years ago.

After the violence she and her family decided to leave Manado and move into the hills surrounding Bitung, a nearby city.
She and her family then had to make a life for themselves in the overcrowded refugee camp.
There she met her husband and they have since married and had two little girls, all the while still being without a home or permanent residence.
Habitat for Humanity built Carolyn and her family a home of their own – their first in 10 years.
Carolyn was giddy with happiness and gratitude and, after the horrors she had seen, feels that she and her family have a whole new start at life.
