World Menstrual Hygiene Day

Inadequate water and sanitation facilities, stigma and lack of education mean that menstruating girls in developing countries often don’t go to school or even drop out of school once they reach puberty.

On the 28th of May we celebrated World Menstrual Hygiene Day in Bangladesh to educate students about menstruation, and start breaking the stigma.  In coming months we will be building school toilet blocks with provision for menstrual hygiene management, so that girls don’t miss out on their education just because they have their period.
