Join the People’s Climate March

Climate change is hitting the world’s poorest communities first, and hardest.

Climate change increases the risk and frequency of disasters everywhere. However, the effects of disasters are further exacerbated for people in the poorest parts of the world who are living in poverty and already extremely vulnerable.

Vietnam for instance, is one of the most disaster prone countries in South East Asia. Provinces that sit within the Mekong Delta in particular are at risk from seasonal floods, mudslides and typhoons, causing loss of life and injury, damaging essential infrastructure and destroying livelihoods.

Our work in Vietnam is focusing on making communities resilient to the challenges posed by climate change, most notably natural disasters. Our work focuses on community-based disaster risk management which helps families prepare for and mitigate the effects of natural disasters.

This weekend, you can take stand on climate change and help build a more hopeful future for the poorest communities impacted by climate change.

On the eve of world leaders meeting in Paris for the United Nations climate summit, the People’s Climate March will gather in Australian cities and walk alongside thousands of people in hundreds of major cities around the world.
