A home for the holidays

Habitat for Humanity South Australia recently handed over a home to a partner family just in time for Christmas.

A celebration was held for Christine who moved into her home in Salisbury North and attended by local Mayor, Gillian Aldridge and the Minister for Social Housing Hon. Zoe Bettison MP.

Christine, a widow, has some significant health issues and needed to move to the Salisbury area from the country to be nearer to her family and medical facilities. However, her very low income and limited equity meant that entering the open housing market was not possible.

With Habitat’s help she has been able to relocate from the country (about 2 hours away) and now has a new home, which will be easier for her to maintain, and will be close to the support of family and the on-going medical treatment she requires.

Congratulations Christine – we wish you many years of happiness in your new home!
